About Me

I love to reinvent things – my life, my clothes, and found objects I find in my travels.  At age 58, I’m on a journey to live a simpler life.  Easier said than done.  I find so many things darn interesting.  My list of places I hope to travel to keeps growing.  I constantly meet fascinating new people I want to know better.  I enjoy the hunt and thrill of finding vintage stuff.  And then keeping it!  I am working hard on not hoarding.  Living a greener life is the road I’m on.  Selling ideas (instead of stuff) through public speaking, workshops and consulting is my focus.

Previously, I co-owned Salvage Studio.  Did the retail thing.  Did the book thing.  Did the filling my house and garage to over-flowing with really good junk thing.

Currently, I am a wife, mother and grandma.  I live in the Seattle, Washington area, and have recently moved into a small eco village of green-built homes.

Can you tell us all about your new green home/eco village, please. It sounds fascinating. What?Where? How? etc. xxxxx

Our future home will be in a cul-de-sac setting of four new, five-star green-built homes north of Seattle. We will share a circular driveway with a community fire pit and seating area in the middle. We have been able to visit our house while it was being built, and the builder has taught us so much about the green, high efficiency construction. Once we are moved in, I’ll share pictures of all the amazing features of our home, garden and community setting.

I just had to send a little note your way…to let you know how much I love following your blog site! I, previously visited the Salvage Studio and even took a class from you. It was the “charm making” class. I learned so much from that class. Then followed you to “Ruffles and Rust” and took the bracelet class. My sister and I loved it! You have inspired my to create my own version of jewelry making. Thank you so much. And my latest is your photos that you post online. Absolutely wonderful! I am enjoying what you see and capture. Thank you so much for sharing your talent!

Thank you so much for your encouraging and supportive comment! The best part of teaching is when I learn I have connected with that person. I am so happy to hear you are creating your own vision and style of jewelry, and loving the process. And receiving a compliment on my photography is extra wonderful. I am humbled by what a challenging art form it is. I have oodles of ideas of what to shoot, but getting those images captured is another story. It feels good to be tackling something new creatively that feels not so comfortable. I really appreciate you taking the time to keep in touch, and hope our paths cross again soon.

      Hi Joy,

Hope you got my facebook reply. But just in case that didn’t connect, I wanted to let you know I didn’t get the minimum number of paying guests we needed for the 2011 Provence tour. I will most likely organize a tour for 2012, probably in September again. Your someone can email me with their contact info, and I’ll be happy to put them on my Provence tour email list. Thanks for being such a fine matchmaker!

Dear Beth – I left a message on the “press” section, and I fear it
won’t reach you. What I said is that Megan Kruse and I recently
met for lunch and both of expressed how much we enjoyed
being at The Salvage Studio in your company. Your statement
above tells me that you are still as energetically pursuing all
things that picque your curiosity. Life is rich, isn’t it?
Blessings to you and your family. ROni Kalyk
