I’m so happy to be teaching two classes at the Ruffles and Rust show on October 23, 2010. Please visit the Come Junk With Us blog to learn all about this fabulous show and how to register for the classes. Tiffany Kirchner-Dixon of The Fancy Farmgirl will be teaching two exciting classes as well that day.
Relics and Ribbons Necklace
You’ll connect sections of chains, crinkled ribbons, and hand-dyed laces together into one-of-a-kind shapes. Imagine three loops of necklace around your neck. You may choose to make one chain by threading beads onto eyelet pins that hook one onto another for a vintage rosary look. We’ll add rescued beads, buttons, keys, chandelier crystals and various found objects onto a large focal point ring. There will be plenty of bling, rusty relics and true French flea market finds. The look of your necklace may be hip and edgy to glamourusty.
All materials will be provided in a workshop kit. Please feel free to bring any special trinkets, charms, jewelry bits and bobs you might want to add. The color palette of your kit will be in neutral shades of creams, greys and metallics. Tools to bring – two pairs of chain or needle nose pliers, round nose pliers and wire cutters.
The cost of this class is $65, which includes your admission into this hot show.
Baubles and Bling Bracelet
A sturdy chain will be adorned with a treasure trove of found objects – bobbins, key tags, coins, monopoly markers, rhinestones, buttons, beads, charms, zipper pulls and a collection of other salvaged items. Snippets of ribbons and hand-dyed laces can be tied on or woven through your chain. You’ll be able to fashion a look that ranges from urban industrial to romantic chic. If you are new to jewelry making or more experienced, you’ll have a bunch of fun making this bracelet.
